About IQ2MI on 501.306 kHz have already received 31 reports of listening in Europe & Italy. Some are surprised to receive so low power beacon (20/25 mW erp) and we too. Despite the very low radiated power have got two screenshots on the grabber of OH1LSQ = 2114 km! (and faint trace on grabber of 4X1RF = 2624 km)
Next steps will be:
- Increase the power of the transmitter until the max power of 1 Watt erp authorized by the Ministry of Communications
- Make QSO directly on 500 kHz or crossband 600 m / 80 m
- Try with digital systems

The beacon IQ2MI on 501.310 kHz (measured) is on air since October 9, 2011 and have already received 118 reports of listening in Europe, Asia (Israel) & Italy. The first step was with only 20/25 mW erp (35 reports and despite the very low radiated power have got two screenshots on the grabber of OH1LSQ = 2114 km!). Since November 9, 2011 the power increased to 1 W erp and max DX is thanks to a Russian OM, Alex RA3TTS = 2782 km. Attempts of reception have been made by Sergej RA9CUA, near Asbest (at 3750 km) but with no luck. We will try again, now that we have more power erp. Some QSO was made x-band 600/80 m or on 600 m band, always random. Waiting for a report from St. Petersburg … We have obtained a new authorization valid until end of June 2012 with max 5 W erp. [2:32:13] I2FGT Giulio: Probably in the next week we increase the power to 5 W erp (or little bit more ... hi) and try for an attempt with USA or Canada and also with Sergej RA9CUA. At the WRC 2012 the 600 m band will be decided to allocate it in the segment 472 - 480 kHz max 5 W ERP, with access as the 137 kHz.
